California Nebula

The California Nebula is a bright and large emission nebula located in the constellation Perseus, which is part of our Milky Way galaxy. This nebula gets its name because its shape roughly resembles the outline of the state of California, albeit with a bit of imagination.

The California Nebula is primarily made up of hydrogen gas, which is being excited by nearby hot stars, causing it to emit a reddish glow. This phenomenon is similar to the way neon lights work. The California Nebula is an active region of star formation, with new stars being born within its gaseous clouds.
